Ark of the Holocene

Good morning/afternoon/evening/night, internet traveler.

Welcome to my ark.

This is a blog dedicated to humankind's reharmonization with nature.

Specifically the Western world, which is my world, the one I grew up in.

I'm not a hater of progress or convenience or technology. I'm simply a person with a mournful heart, hearing the cries of nature, wishing to take agency into my own hands and do what I can to help it. Although America has constructed most cities seemingly with the goal of keeping nature out, nature's health is directly linked to our own (mentally and physically). We are well-equipped to promote biodiversity and maintain healthy practices. We simply... struggle to understand where the agency lies in an individual.

This blog is dedicated to returning the agency of restoration of nature to people.

It is not a set of commands, nor a source of shame admonishing you for existing.

It is a set of resources and reflections to help people realize their own path, to occupy the role that best suits their abilities and interests.

begin the processes of restoration. Think about it. - All necesary materials are available to us through shipping and international trade. - We just need the time. we are creatures of the Earth. Our well-being is directly linked with the world around us. We thrive on cycles of the sun and moon. lost a great deal of practices which interact with nature, (or rather, we have relegated those jobs to a small subgroup of people while the rest of us work within the cement world of our own creation),

If you think I'm a society-hater, please see my list of Things I appreciate about society

If you feel guilty and complicit, and hate that feeling, visit the 'climate guilt?' page.

In a time of flood, Noah built an ark to bring the natural world to safety in the new world.

We live in a flood of information, distractions, sensations. Resources. Confusion. Mass dying.

Ancient people found this story compelling, enough to transfer it word-of-mouth down generations for ages, before writing it in holy books.

Additionally, the story of the flood is found cross-culturally: see Wikipedia's List of Flood Myths

Anyways, it's critical in this time that we preserve nature and biodiversity and things.
